Wow, Amy Winehouse could be about to earn $1 million (approx £500,000) for one gig, after being reportedly offered the amount to play the celebrity party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute in New York on May 5th.

The bash is being organised by fashion designer Giorgio Armani, and he is said to be willing to do anything to secure her services for the party. If that means paying $1 million, then he’s clearly willing to do it.

To this end, he is thought to have asked actor friends George Clooney and Julia Roberts to help sign Winehouse up for the deal, although why two over the hill actors would be enough to persuade her is beyond me.

Is life about to turn around for Amy Winehouse? First, she enters rehab and successfully gets through the difficult cold turkey portion of her treatment, and now she has become the most successful artist at this year’s Grammys, walking away with five awards.

Winehouse couldn’t attend the ceremony in Los Angeles due to difficulties in obtaining a Visa, so instead she performed via satellite in a London studio to her parents, and a small audience of fans.

Amy was at the Riverside studios, where she sang Rehab and You Know I’m No Good towards the end of the American awards ceremony, meaning it was nearer 4am here in the UK.

Even via satellite, Winehouse received a standing ovation from the LA crowd, to which she said:

“Thank you very much, it’s an honour to be here. Thank you very, very much.”

Any was then announced as having won Record of the Year for the glorious Rehab, which also won the 24 year old Song of the Year and Female Pop Vocal Performance.

The troubles Amy Winehouse has been having are all over the media right now. You can’t open a newspaper in the UK without being faced by the latest news on the singer.

So the news that Winehouse has postponed her US and Canadian tour until 2008 came as no surprise to anyone.

I reported just over a week ago now about Amy’s drink and drugs overdose, and trip to hospital.

And since then, we’ve heard how she’s been in and out of rehab for addiction. Everyone seems to have an opinion on the British singer, and this announcement will only add to that.

Earlier on, I wrote a post reporting that Lily Allen had been denied entry in to America, and had her visa confiscated in Los Angeles. Well it now seems that it could have just been newspaper talk, as Lily’s manager Neale Easterby has called the reports “rubbish” and states that she is currently performing in Las Vegas.

Easterby told Billboard:

“She’s in Las Vegas right now. She will be there until Thursday shooting a video with Common and Kanye West for Common’s track ‘Drivin’ Me Wild’.”

So who to believe? Maybe she was questioned in LA airport, but it seems she wasn’t held or denied a visa after all. Why do newspapers do this? Especially when it’s not even April Fools Day!
