Ian Brown States No Stone Roses Reunion - For At Least Three Lifetimes AKA Ever
August 9, 2008 by Dave Parrack

The Stone Roses are one of the best bands to have ever come out of Britain, but their musical legacy was pitifully small due to only two albums being produced before they split up. Although that was way back in 1996, there have been numerous calls for them to reunite from the public and band members alike.
The split was somewhat acrimonious, and so the chances of a reunion seemed to be as likely as The Verve or The Police getting back together, both of whom also split up due to band tension. Now those two have managed it, although The Police have now split again after picking up their hefty pay cheques, maybe The Stone Roses could follow?
Mani, the bassist for the legendary Madchester indie band, certainly thinks it could happen, and stated that lead singer Ian Brown was the only original member against the idea. Now, Ian Brown has confirmed that view, and gone on to state quite categorically that he would never be involved with a Stone Roses reunion.
Why The Sex Pistols Should Now Retire
June 21, 2008 by Dave Parrack

I’m a big fan of the Sex Pistols, a fact you need to keep in mind while reading the following rant. The thing is, I’m a fan of them in their original guise, in the late 1970s, when the UK needed someone to come along and mix things up a little.
That is exactly what the Sex Pistols did back in the late seventies when they were at the forefront of the British punk movement, a movement which changed the music scene in the country, and possibly even the attitudes of a whole generation of people.
Back then, punk offered an alternative for the youth of the day to the corrupt and inept government and powers that be. In a time when the UK was probably at its lowest ebb since the Second World War, bands such as the Sex Pistols informed everyone that you didn’t have to sit by and be a bystander. You could actually do something about it all, and more than anything, have your say.
Fast forward thirty years and I have just had the misfortune of watching the Sex Pistols performance at last weekend’s Isle Of Wight Festival on television. And it has made me sadly come to the conclusion that it is time for Johnny Rotten and all to hang up their instruments and retire.
UK Summer Festival Season Kicks Off With Isle Of Wight & Download This Weekend
June 14, 2008 by Dave Parrack

How do you decide when the summer is finally upon us and the rain clouds are going to give way to glorious days of sunshine? Personally, being a music freak, I wait until the summer festival season kicks off in the UK, which is this weekend with both the Isle of Wight and Download festivals taking place.
The Isle of Wight Festival is one of the oldest pop and rock festivals in the UK, with some particularly memorable performance from artists such as Bob Dylan, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and The Doors when it first ran between 1968 and 1970. It was then brought back, and bang up to date in 2002, and has been running ever since.
This year’s line-up sees The Sex Pistols, Ian Brown, The Police and The Kooks headlining tonight and tomorrow, but it all kicked off on Friday night with Kaiser Chiefs headlining their first festival in the UK.

The warm up gig will take place two days earlier, on the 11th June. It will be the first time that The Sex Pistols have played Birmingham in 32 years.
Sex Pistols Set To Re-Release ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’
July 26, 2007 by Dave Parrack
The Sex Pistols are set to re-release their classic debut album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks… Here’s The Sex Pistols’. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the album, it will be re-issued on October 29th on Vinyl, with a 7″ of ‘Submission’ and a free poster.
The album was originally released on Oct 28, 1977, and Submission was missed off the original track listing. It was instead added as a 7″ single with the first 50,000 copies of the album.
Along with the album, the Pistols will be re-releasing their 4 biggest singles: ‘Anarchy in the UK’, God Save the Queen’, ‘Pretty Vacant’ and ‘Holidays in the Sun’ throughout October on 7″ vinyl.
