U2, Muse, Stevie Wonder Are Glastonbury Headliners

Glastonbury always pulls out massive headliners, and 2010 is no exception. This year’s line-up could even go down in history as the greatest of all time.

The three headliners for the Glastonbury Festival have now been confirmed. U2 will close Friday night, Muse will end Saturday night, and the whole thing will be finished off on Sunday night by the legend that is Stevie Wonder.
U2 were confirmed a while ago, but Muse and Stevie Wonder were just rumors until now.
Unfortunately for anyone who wants to attend the festival on the strength of the headline acts alone, Glastonbury is already sold out. …read more

Glastonbury Festival Keeps Flags After Fan Poll Result

Glastonbury Festival Keeps Flags After Fan Poll Result

Unsure whether to follow the example set by Download, and Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury Festival decided to ask the people actually affected by the trend for the selfish waving of oversized flags. The people have spoken, and flags will be staying put. Unfortunately.

I was really hoping Glastonbury would ban flags, but no, it’s taking on board the views of its patrons and allowing them to remain part of the annual mudfest.
The final results of the poll were 55 percent in favor of keeping the flags, 45 percent in favor of a ban. And I have a sick feeling in my …read more

Glastonbury Festival Asks Fans Opinions On Flag Banning

Glastonbury Festival Asks Fans Opinions On Flag Banning

After the ludicrous number of flags being flown at last year’s big music festivals a debate has raged as to whether they should be banned or not. Reading and Leeds banned flags last year, and Download has followed suit this year. Will Glastonbury join them?

A couple of flags being waved here and there in a festival crowd in fine. It’s manageable and doesn’t ruin the enjoyment of people watching from further back or watching on TV from their comfort of their own homes.
However, it’s got silly over the past couple of years, with more and more flags of increasing size …read more

National Audit Office Criticizes BBC Glastonbury Coverage

Glastonbury is the biggest and best festival in the U.K. It’s a must-see for music lovers every year. If you cannot attend in person then you need to watch the coverage on TV, and the BBC always delivers on that score. But does it provide value for money?

Almost everyone in Britain has a love/hate relationship with the BBC. We all hate paying the TV license – resenting giving our money so that overpaid presenters can life a life of luxury while everyone else cannot. But we all love at least some of the programming.
And the Glastonbury Festival is no exception. …read more

Glastonbury 2010: Rolling Stones No, Dizzee Rascal Yes

Glastonbury 2010: Rolling Stones No, Dizzee Rascal Yes

Glastonbury provides the pinnacle of the UK festival season every year for most people. Glastonbury has been running for years, and has changed a great deal in that time, becoming a much more focused, well-organized (and consequently expensive) event. Glastonbury 2010 is starting to shape up nicely.

U2 have already been confirmed as the first of the three headline acts. They’re not my cup of tea, and are only now gracing the festival with their presence a little after they peaked, yet they’re still a big name likely to draw a huge crowd.

Damon Albarn Confirms Blur Are Finished

Damon Albarn Confirms Blur Are Finished

It was already widely assumed that Blur had ended for the second time but Damon Albarn finally seems to have stated as much semi-officially. Blur reunited for a short stadium tour and some much-celebrated appearances at festivals in 2009, but that, I’m afraid to say, appears to be the end of it.

Blur’s last arranged gig was at the T In The Park festival in Scotland. Albarn set tongues wagging by saying, “This is our last gig” while introducing a song. Since then both Alex James and Graham Coxon have admitted Blur have no future plans.
Now comes Albarn adding his voice …read more

Jonathan Ross: Muse “Probably” Playing Glastonbury 2010

U2 have now been confirmed to be headlining Glastonbury 2010, and it looks as though Muse will be joining them. Nothing is yet confirmed, instead the news comes courtesy of a Tweet by Jonathan Ross after he had the band on as guests on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.

Muse were guests on Jonathan Ross’ chat show this week, and while he didn’t talk to them live, he did speak to them off air. He claimed in a Tweet after the show aired that lead singer Matt Bellamy hinted about a possible appearance at Glastonbury.
Ross said:
“Didn’t chat to them on the …read more

U2 Headlining Glastonbury 2010 – Muse, Bowie Rumored

U2 have been confirmed to be headlining Glastonbury 2010. It will be the Irish band’s first appearance at the long-running festival. Although they’ve been rumored to appear multiple times through the years they’ve never actually made the final bill. Muse, David Bowie, Coldplay, and The Rolling Stones are rumored to be joining them on the bill.

Speaking on the event’s official website, Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk, organizer Michael Eavis said:
“I promised the best possible line-up for the show next year and the confirmation that U2 will play their first ever Glastonbury – and their first major festival gig since the early 1980s – is …read more

UK Festival Awards Results – Blur At Glastonbury Triumph

UK Festival Awards Results – Blur At Glastonbury Triumph

The British festival scene is probably the best in the world, with both huge, well-known festivals and small, niche festivals attracting the world’s best acts to the U.K. Which means the list of winners at the UK Festival Awards is both brilliant and varied.

Glastonbury was the big winner, with organizer Michael Eavis taking home the award for ‘Best Major Festival’ and seeing Blur carry of the prize for ‘Best Headline Performance’ for their Glastonbury set. Bestival and Beach Break Live also racked up multiple wins at the ceremony held at London’s O2 Arena last night (Nov. 19).

Coxon: Blur Have No Further Plans

Coxon: Blur Have No Further Plans

The Blur reunion lead to much celebrating by fans of the original Britpop band yet it all seems to have come to a rather abrupt end. After playing several gigs, including a much-vaunted headlining set at the 2009 Glastonbury Festival, the four members of Blur have now each gone their own separate ways again. What on earth is going on?

Damon Albarn suggested it was over again when he said, “This is our last gig,” after playing the opening song of the Glasto set. Then Alex James made it clear that as much as they all enjoyed coming back together to …read more
