Noel Gallagher Going Solo? | Oasis Guitarist Wants Solo Project After ‘Dig Out Your Soul’

September 18, 2008 by Dave Parrack

Oasis are currently busy gearing up for the release of new album, Dig Out Your Soul, on October 6th. But could it be that this will be the last Oasis studio album for a while, with the members of the band going their own separate ways to work on solo projects?

In an interview with Blender magazine, Noel Gallagher answered questions put to him by readers. One of them asked: “When will you finally make a solo album?” Noel replied:

“I’d like for us to do separate projects after this record. We’d all have to agree on it, so it will probably never happen. I’ve got loads of new songs. Somewhat predictably, they’re all brilliant.”

Now apart from being as modest as ever, a solo album from Noel seems to genuinely be on the agenda, at least if the other members of Oasis agree to let him go off and do it.

I would guess that Liam would be the one most against the idea as he must worry that were the solo record to be successful then Oasis could possibly cease to exist.

Noel has always been the brains behind Oasis, and most of the band’s big hits have come from his efforts. But, recent releases have seen the rest of the band also contributing their own songs, with Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell composing tracks for the albums.

I’d love to see Noel release a solo album, and am pretty sure it would be brilliant. Just as long as it didn’t mean the end of Oasis altogether, as despite losing some relevancy over the years, they are still one of the best British bands around.

It’s inevitable–Noel going solo. He’s a right fine guitarist and his singin’ ain’t too bad. Oasis rocks!
