Lily Allen Reveals New Songs – New Direction | Writes Song For “Friend” James Corden

Lily Allen Salutes George Bush

Lily Allen is currently a very busy woman. Not only is she currently writing and recording tracks for her new album, she is also building as close friendship with actor and comedian James Corden, the star of British sitcom Gavin and Stacey.

After some false starts, the album must now be coming along, as Lily had the confidence to post two new songs for her fans to listn to on her MySpace page last week. They show her heading in a new musical direction, and though I hate to say it, maturing a little in her song writing – which is hardly surprising seeing as how life has bit her on the bum over the last two years.

The attitude is still there, along with the swearing (but then it wouldn’t be Lily without the swearing), but there also seems to be more depth and feeling to it all, which is a real anathema to the Pop, carefree Alright, Still. Her new style remind me very much of Kate Nash, which in my book, is a good thing.

Lily was quick to point out that these are only rough cuts, but promised more, saying:

“I posted a couple of new songs on the player for you all to have a listen to and get an idea of my new direction, they are just at a demo stage so don’t be too hard on them.”

“I’ll probably swap some others around and play you stuff as I do it in the studio, like I did last time round. And there’ll also be a new mixtape soon, I hope you enjoy this shizzle.”

Meanwhile, Lily seems to be striking up a very close friendship, or may be more, with Gavin and Stacey sitcom star James Corden.

The two met on her chat show last month, and flirted pretty outrageously. Anyone who saw it, me included could see there was chemistry, and the two have since being seeing a lot of each other, however both claim that its nothing more than friendship.

Lily has, however, written a song for Corden, who picked up two Bafta awards over the weekend, called From Barry To Billericay in honour of his Welshness. The Daily Star claims that although Allen couldn’t attend the ceremony, she sent Corden the song’s lyrics in a sealed envelope.

The song is said to include the lyric, “Your heart is the ocean we all get swept up in”. If that doesn’t signal that she’s in to him, then I don’t know what would.
