John Lennon Gay Claims Rubbished By Paul McCartney - But They Did Sleep Together
September 15, 2008 by Dave Parrack

John Lennon was gay is the claim made by Philip Norman, the author of a new book about the dead Beatle titled John Lennon: The Life. He puts forward the theory that John Lennon wanted to have a gay relationship with his Beatles band mate Paul McCartney.
Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono and McCartney himself had helped Norman with the autobiography, with Ono even giving an endorsement to the book stating that it’s a factual account of Lennon’s life. Clearly she hadn’t read the whole thing first.
That endorsement has now been withdrawn, and McCartney has come out (excuse the pun) and denied the claims that Lennon had gay fantasies about him.
He told The Sun newspaper:
“I don’t think (the gay claims) are true. John never ever tried anything, I slept with him a million times.”
“I’ve seen him on tour roaring drunk, out of his mind in the early days before he sobered up and went to rehab. Roaring drunk and it was always with a female, never once with a man.”
“If you’ve got a little gay tendency and you’re roaring drunk I’d have caught him once.”
I’ve got a feeling Paul McCartney may regret admitting to sleeping with John Lennon “a million times”. We all know what he means but that sentence taken out of context in a few years time could come back to haunt him.
I really don’t understand this story in the first place. John Lennon has been dead for almost 30 years, so what the hell does it matter if he was gay anyway? Why Ono and McCartney have felt the need to deny the claims and disown the book, I really don’t know.
John Lennon was the best songwriter that the UK has produced in the last 100 years, but it’s a debate, 30 years after he got shot, about whether he had gay tendencies or not that has everyone talking. How bizarre the world of celebrity is these days.

Those comments to the Sun are not recent - they were taken from Paul’s interview with Howard Stern from 5 or 6 years ago.
And Paul has said numerous times how often he and John slept together. In Many Years From Now, he went into some detail, recounting fondly how they would be “squeezed” into their “little single bed” and listen to his cousin tell show-biz stories. Nor were they children at the time - Lennon was 19 and Macca, a couple months shy of 17.
That’s just it! It’s hard to get the “skinny” right down to the nitty gritty when things are “taken out of context.” Wonder if Liam Gallagher still sees Lennon’s ghost.
