Cheryl Cole Joins The X Factor In Place Of Sharon Osbourne - What About Girls Aloud?

British pop sensations Girls Aloud formed on a long defunct television show called Popstars: The Rivals way back in 2002. Since then, the show has evolved to become The X Factor, and Girls Aloud have gone on to be massively successful. Now the two are about to merge once again.

Last week saw Sharon Osbourne, wife of the British born and bred rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, quit the show after her request for a massive pay increase. She straight away backed Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole for the job, and that has now been officially announced.

It’s good timing, as filming for the new series starts today, June 12th, so any longer and we’d have had to make do with just three judges, one of whom is the untalented lump that is Dannii Minogue. The others being the equally annoying, but slightly more cut out for television Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.

According to Unreality TV, Cole said:

“I’m so excited to be part of such a great show and although it’s scary joining a huge programme like The X Factor, it’s a massive honour to be following in the footsteps of Sharon Osbourne.”

“The rest of the girls have said they’re right behind me, which is really important for me as it will be weird to be on the other side of the fence this time. So whilst we get started on the next album, it will be brilliant to be a Judge on The X Factor.”

You may wonder why Cole felt the need to add the part about the rest of Girls Aloud, and their plans for the future? Well, considering that the group have reportedly been on the verge of splitting up numerous times over the past few years, she really needed to mention them in some context.

While I don’t think this will be the end of Girls Aloud, there’s no doubt that a few of the girls, with Cole in particular, are trying to break out of the mould to do other stuff. The X Factor could potentially just be the first television show for Cole, and if the offers then come rolling in, who knows what will happen.

Meanwhile, I think The X Factor will miss Osbourne’s presence as she was often the only judge willing to say anything but every contestant was brilliant. Cowell will continue to do his camp panto style playing with the contestants and audience, but that’s become very boring now. As for Minogue, she might as well not be there.

dannii is talented. just cause she makes more money than u doesn’t mean u have to be so rude. i’m glad sharon is gone, the only thing she could say was yes to practically every person who came in for an audition. at least cheryl has the guts to tell them if they’re crap. don’t be so fucking bias

I think firstly that D minogue has done very little considering the number of years she has been around the scene. She is a No 1 poseur & Egotist.

C Cole has a very poor command of the English Language, is a poor role model for our children/
grandchildren & , being a talent show winner hasn’t worked her way through the “MUSIC SCENE”. Sorry NO CONFIDENCE” in them or SIMON COWELL” for all the BIG MONEY they have earned. “SORRY !!! ” FORTUNE is not KNOWLEDGE” MONEY doesn’t impress ME.

Is it time for thids show to go ?? YES !!!

  3. Graham says:

    i love cheryl cole

  5. jess says:

cheryl cole is beautiful and very down to earth

  6. Graham says:

Being beautiful & down-to-earth doesn’t make her experienced, or talented, enough to pass on her guidance to hopefuls wishing to advance themselves in the tough Showbiz World.

Considering she only took part in a Reality Show a very few years ago I think she has been thrown in at the deep end, and, in those circumstances copes well but get real folks.

Tut eigentlich echt leid.
