The Verve Split Again – Third Time Lucky For Ashcroft & Co?
August 11, 2009 by Dave Parrack
The Verve – brilliant band, possibly one of the most underrated bands of the last decade. But their reputation and prospects for truly fulfilling their potential as world-beaters has been undermined by the fact that the band members all seem to hate each other. They’ve already split up twice over the years, before reforming and re-forming, releasing new material, and playing sold-out gigs. And now they’ve reportedly split again.
The Verve formed way back in 1990 and they spent the first half of the 1990s achieving mild commercial success while being feted by critics. But they split in 1995 after releasing …read more
My British Soundtrack For Summer 2008
August 17, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Here in the UK, the summer is at its peak, which as anyone who has ever visited Britain would know means lots of rain with the occasional sunny spell in between. But regardless of the weather outside, music has the ability to lift our spirits and at least make us feel like it’s fine outside.
Some of the blogs on the b5 Music Channel have put together their soundtracks for the summer, and here is mine. There are only five songs, but they are all very recent and all have one one thing in common: they cheered me up when I …read more
The Verve Stream New Album Online | Listen To ‘Forth’ Sampler On Web Now
August 14, 2008 by Dave Parrack
When The Verve announced their reunion back in July of last year, fans of the band hoped that new material would be forthcoming from the coming together. Last month saw this hope realised when The Verve announced details of their new album, named Forth.
There has already been one single released from the album, with Love Is Noise being both brilliant and annoying (what is it with the Tellytubbies noises?)
No other songs have been heard until now but The Verve’s record company Parlophone has rectified the situation by releasing an album sampler for Forth which contains sizeable snippets from all ten …read more

June 26, 2008 by Dave Parrack
The Verve were once one of the biggest bands in Britain, and one which found themselves revered around the world for their soulful take on indie rock. But it all came to a rather abrupt and bitter end when the band split in 1999 due to musical differences, and not being able to stand the sight of each other.
But now they are back. In July of last year, The Verve announced they were getting back together, with all four original members signing up together for a world tour and a new album. We’ve had the tour, and now the comeback …read more
The Verve Reform & Announce Tour
July 4, 2007 by Dave Parrack
The Verve, one of the best British bands of the 90s, are back, in a twist to their story which no-one saw coming. When the band split in 1999, it was so acrimonious, I certainly thought that was it for the Indie Alternative group. Instead, here they are back together, and set to tour in November.
Richard Ashcroft and his song writing partner Stuart McCabe fell out in spectacular style, with the latter leaving the band prematurely even before the official split in April 1999, 10 years after they originally formed. Ashcroft obviously went on to have a successful solo career, …read more
