Ting Tings Name New Album ‘Kunst’ After Massage Parlor

I fell in love with The Ting Tings as soon as their debut album, We Started Nothing, was released in 2008. So I’m ecstatic to hear they’re currently beavering away on their second record, due out later this year. However, I’m not so sure about the name.

We Started Nothing is a gem of an album. It was a breath of fresh air and contained more original ideas than a whole season of The X Factor. Which isn’t too hard, granted.
The Ting Tings, made up of Katie White and Jules De Martino, revealed in July that they were heading for Berlin …read more

The Ting Tings Take On America With Roc Nation And Jay-Z

The Tings Tings took the U.K. by storm with their debut album, We Started Nothing, released in May 2008. Some of the singles, especially Shut Up and Let Me Go, also hit big in the States. The Salford duo are currently working on their second album, and Jay-Z is to be involved.

According to the Daily Star, The Ting Tings have signed to the rapper’s record label Roc Nation. And as is his way, Jay-Z is keen to take an active interest in the group’s output. A source (if you believe there is such a thing in stories such as these) …read more

The Ting Tings Recording Second Album In Berlin Jazz Club

The Ting Tings Recording Second Album In Berlin Jazz Club

The Ting Tings seemed to appear from nowhere at the beginning of last year. Although both members, Jules De Martino and Katie White, had been in other groups for years, The Ting Tings was the first to become really big. They quickly built a sizable fan base thanks to their cross genre appeal, with both clubbers and Indie fans falling for their addictive songs.

Their debut album, We Started Nothing, is astoundingly good, full of catchy tunes perfect for playing on a hot summer’s day. It includes the five singles released which charted, including That’s Not My Name which reached …read more

The Ting Tings – ‘We Walk’ Video Review

It took me a while to warm to The Ting Tings but they are now one of my favorite new British groups. Their debut album, We Started Nothing, is a collection of ten of the most catchy and feel-good songs ever written.
Not content with already having had massive hits with That’s Not My Name, Shut Up and Let Me Go, and Great DJ, The Ting Tings are releasing a final single from the album. We Walk is released today.
The We Walk music video and review is after the cut…

Brit Awards 2009 Live – Part 4 – Ting Tings, Estelle, Girls Aloud, Duffy, Pet Shop Boys

Brit Awards 2009 Live – Part 4 – Ting Tings, Estelle, Girls Aloud, Duffy, Pet Shop Boys

21:30 – The Ting Tings and Estelle take to the stage together for one of the most bizarre collaborations I’ve ever witnessed. It kind of works as they boh get to perform their biggest hits but it’s not a patch on last year’s Rihanna/Klaxons mash-up.
21:33 – Alan Carr on stage to present the award for ‘British Single’. What the hell is he wearing? I’m not exactly the most fashionable guy but some of these outfits are terrible. I’ll stick to Primark I think. And the winner is… not Diana Vickers… Girls Aloud. Much deserved, and it means Scouting for Girls …read more

Brit Music Scene Review Of The Year 2008 – Part Four: October to December

2009 has arrived so I’m actually overdue in rounding up my best of Brit Music Scene from 2008. Here we finally make it to the end of 2008 with the biggest stories and talking points between the months of October and December
October
The month began with Rick Astley unbelievably being named Best Act Ever by MTV. Meanwhile, Led Zeppelin were threatening to tour with a new lead singer in place of Robert Plant, and Pete Kay beat Leon Jackson in the charts.
There were rumors that The long-awaited Smiths reunion could finally be happening, but it still hasn’t yet. The Ting Tings …read more

Should The BBC Bring Back Top Of The Pops? – The Ting Tings Think So

Should The BBC Bring Back Top Of The Pops? – The Ting Tings Think So

Top Of The Pops was an iconic music show that was broadcast weekly for 42 years between 1964 and 2006 before being cancelled.
It was one of the few music shows around that played chart music and broke new bands. So is there a case for it to be brought back?
One band thinks so, with The Ting Tings telling Absolute Radio (via NME) that they were big fans of the show and want it brought back, just so they can appear on it. Jules De Martino said:
“Bring back TOTP and let us be the first band to play on it.”

The Ting Tings New Album On Way

The Ting Tings New Album On Way

The Ting Tings have probably been the biggest band to have emerged from the UK this year, certainly they’re the biggest indie/alternative band to have made their début in 2008. But Katie White and Jules De Martino aren’t going to sit back and watch the money and awards roll in.
Instead, the duo from Salford are going to immediately launch in to writing and recording their next album, the follow-up to the insanely successful, and oh-so catchy, We Started Nothing.
According to the NME, The Ting Tings are looking to start recording the album in early 2009.

The Ting Tings – ‘Be The One’ Video Review

The Ting Tings – ‘Be The One’ Video Review

The Ting Tings have been a revelation this year, seemingly coming from nowhere to find fame and success on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as almost everywhere else in the world. This is their new single, Be The One, the fourth song to be released from their début album, We Started Nothing.
This song has a tough act to follow. While Great DJ didn’t do much, Shut Up and Let Me Go, and That’s Not My Name were absolutely huge. Thankfully for us Ting Tings fans, and unfortunately for those of you who hate them, Be The One is …read more

My British Soundtrack For Summer 2008

My British Soundtrack For Summer 2008

Here in the UK, the summer is at its peak, which as anyone who has ever visited Britain would know means lots of rain with the occasional sunny spell in between. But regardless of the weather outside, music has the ability to lift our spirits and at least make us feel like it’s fine outside.
Some of the blogs on the b5 Music Channel have put together their soundtracks for the summer, and here is mine. There are only five songs, but they are all very recent and all have one one thing in common: they cheered me up when I …read more
