Mani: The Key To Stone Roses Reunion – Bags Of Cash

The Stone Roses will they/won’t they reunion talk is starting to drag on almost as much as the Led Zeppelin will they/won’t they reunion talk. And as I sit here right now I’m convinced neither are ever going to happen. However, Stone Roses bassist Mani thinks there may be one chance left to reunite the whole band – offer a shed load of money.

Ian Brown has said time and time again that he will never be party to a Stone Roses reunion. The last time he stated this was in March after a British tabloid newspaper claimed the band were …read more

No Stone Roses Reunion Ever – John Squire Echoes Ian Brown In Stating It’s All Over

Two supposed reunions as reported by the British tabloid newspapers have now been shown to be nothing more than pure speculation. First it was Led Zeppelin, now the Stone Roses. It’s time to face facts that neither is going to happen.

This week started with a British tabloid stating the Stone Roses were set to reform once again, with a full UK tour on the cards. This was immediately shot down by Ian Brown’s spokesman, and now John Squire has echoed that denial.
First, Squire created a piece of art declaring that the reunion wasn’t going to happen. The artwork, a picture …read more

Stone Roses Reforming? Ian Brown Says No

Stone Roses Reforming? Ian Brown Says No

The Stone Roses were a fantastic band… in their day. Now, maybe not so much. If they get together again for a reunion tour, they risk destroying the legacy they have so far created which leaves them as one of the greatest British bands ever. So would they risk it?

This question has been kicked around for a while now. Mani seems up for it, Ian Brown most certainly isn’t, and John Squire and Reni haven’t aired their views in public as of yet. So the chances are against it happening.
However, The Mirror claimed today that the Stone Roses are set …read more

The Public Demands Led Zeppelin Reform

The Public Demands Led Zeppelin Reform

The last two years have seen a slew of British groups reform, some in order to give the fans what they want, and some in order to make a quick buck (cough Spice Girls cough). But there are still many bands resisting the urge, and the calls from fans to reunite.
This lead me to ask: Which group would you most like to see reform? Most of the answers were predictable, as was the share of voting, but there were a few surprises. First, the results in full.

Take That & Robbie Top Reunion Poll – Beating Led Zep, Smiths, Stone Roses

Take That & Robbie Top Reunion Poll – Beating Led Zep, Smiths, Stone Roses

Band reunions are a strange beast: they are a mix of doing it for the fans and doing it for the money, they rarely last very long, and they even more rarely live up to expectations. But despite all of this, millions of people want to see their favorite groups reform.
British groups seem to be making a habit of reforming. Since I’ve been writing Brit Music Scene, we have seen The Verve, Boyzone, Led Zeppelin (for a one off concert), The Police, The Sex Pistols, The Spice Girls, Blur, and Take That all get back together in some form.
Then there …read more

Brit Music Scene Review Of The Year 2008 – Part Three: July to September

2009 has arrived so I’m actually overdue in rounding up my best of Brit Music Scene from 2008. Here we find out what the biggest stories and talking points between the months of July and September.
July
Most bands now love having their songs featured in video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but Led Zeppelin made a stand against the grain by refusing permission for their songs to be used. Meanwhile, Mani claimed that Ian Brown was the main thing stopping a Stone Roses reunion from happening.
There were claims that John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols …read more

First Blur, Now The Smiths and Stone Roses?

First Blur, Now The Smiths and Stone Roses?

Reforming is obviously the thing to do now. We’ve already seen Take That make a successful comeback, The Spice Girls a less successful one, and The Police reforming and then splitting up again. We’ve also seen Boyzone reform even though no-one asked them to, and Led Zeppelin announce plans to tour and release new material even though Robert Plant won’t be involved.
Then, more recently we learned about The Faces making plans, and just last week, Blur announced they were reforming after Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon put their differences aside to work together again. So, who is next? Could it …read more

Ian Brown States No Stone Roses Reunion – For At Least Three Lifetimes AKA Ever

Ian Brown States No Stone Roses Reunion – For At Least Three Lifetimes AKA Ever

The Stone Roses are one of the best bands to have ever come out of Britain, but their musical legacy was pitifully small due to only two albums being produced before they split up. Although that was way back in 1996, there have been numerous calls for them to reunite from the public and band members alike.
The split was somewhat acrimonious, and so the chances of a reunion seemed to be as likely as The Verve or The Police getting back together, both of whom also split up due to band tension. Now those two have managed it, although The …read more

The Stone Roses Reforming? – Mani Names Ian Brown As Reason Stopping Reunion

The Stone Roses Reforming? – Mani Names Ian Brown As Reason Stopping Reunion

The Stone Roses remain fresh in people’s minds as one of the seminal bands of the late 80s and early 90s, and a founding member of the much-acclaimed Madchester scene. However, they split up in 1996, and have all gone their own ways, and concentrated on solo projects since.
As much as many of us would like to see them reform, the split was acrimonious, and the chances have always been very slim of a meeting of minds, and any sort of reunion. In particular, the relationship between lead singer Ian Brown, and guitarist John Squires is non-existent, with Brown angry …read more
