Spice Girls Musical Created By ‘Mamma Mia!’ Producer

2009 saw talk of a new Spice Girls reunion. It then became clear that rather than a full tour, the group were planning something else, maybe a one-off event such as the London 2012 Olympic Games. In the end, it appears the Spice Girls won’t actually be directly involved at all.

In November, The Sun reported that a musical was being created based on the Spice Girls, their career, and their music. I didn’t believe the story at the time, but Digital Spy is now reporting that Simon Fuller has confirmed it is happening.

The British Music Experience Review – O2 Music Exhibition

British music has been widely recognized and loved around the world since the early 1950s. And sixty years on, each successive decade has proved to be a beast of its own, unique making. The British Music Experience charts these six decades of music in an interactive and entertaining way.

The British Music Experience is a permanent exhibition at the O2 in London. It has made a home in the O2 Bubble, just one small part of the huge complex formerly known as the Millennium Dome, which now has the O2 Arena at its heart.
The British Music Experience opened in March 2009, …read more

Spice Girls Musical ‘Viva Forever’ Coming November 2010?

September saw talk of new plans for a Spice Girls reunion. Both Mel B and Geri Halliwell hinted at something big occurring but wouldn’t divulge details. Whatever it was, Victoria Beckham didn’t seem to be in on it. It then looked like being connected to the London 2012 Olympics but the new suggestion is even harder to swallow.

According to The Sun, a musical based on the Spice Girls is being developed. The newspaper claims the show will be called Viva Forever, is being penned by Kim Fuller, brother of former manager Simon Fuller, includes 14 of their hit records, and …read more

Spice Girls To Reform For 2012 London Olympics?

September saw two of the Spice Girls, in the form of Mel B and Geri Halliwell, teasing that the group could be about to announce plans to get together. Victoria Beckham AKA Posh Spice later denied knowledge of any plans. But Simon Fuller, the man who engineered the Spice Girls’ rise to fame, thinks there could be something in the offing.

Fuller is the former manager of the Spice Girls and current boss of talent agency 19. He thinks the 2012 Olympic Games, due to held in London, would be the perfect venue for the second comeback of the Spice Girls.

Victoria Beckham Knows Nothing About Spice Girls Reunion

Victoria Beckham Knows Nothing About Spice Girls Reunion

We’ve so far had two Spice Girls teasing us with details of a new Spice Girls reunion. Yes, a new one, even though the first one only happened two years ago and ended rather badly. But while Mel B and Geri Halliwell seem to be on the inside of planning this latest comeback, Victoria Beckham clearly isn’t.

September saw Mel B tweet about the possibility of the Spice Girls getting back together (again) after she had a meal with Geri, Emma Bunton, and Mel C. Then Halliwell went on television and spoke about how it could happen, but refused to give …read more

Now Geri Halliwell Teases New Spice Girls Reunion

Oh man, this is now getting serious. While just one of the former Spice Girls was talking about a new reunion it seemed nothing more than wishful thinking. Now, two of them have mentioned getting back together to do something, and Geri Halliwell spoke openly about it on a TV show rather than Twitter as Mel B did. Damn, you just know this is going to happen.

At the end of last week, four of the five Spice Girls – Victoria being the one missing – met for dinner. The next day, Mel B aka Scary Spice tweeted about the possibility …read more

Mel B Teases New Spice Girls Reunion – Without Victoria?

Mel B Teases New Spice Girls Reunion – Without Victoria?

You may remember that the last Spice Girls reunion was an absolute shambles. It started off well, with a great buzz, awesome ticket sales, and even a not-too-bad comeback single. And then midway through the sellout world tour, the girls decided to call it a day, split again, and disappoint millions of fans. Call me cynical but it was as though the girls had received their pay checks and promptly decided enough was enough.

Since then, everything coming out of the Spice Girls camp has been negative. February saw the girls declare they would never tour again, while May saw both …read more

The Public Demands Led Zeppelin Reform

The Public Demands Led Zeppelin Reform

The last two years have seen a slew of British groups reform, some in order to give the fans what they want, and some in order to make a quick buck (cough Spice Girls cough). But there are still many bands resisting the urge, and the calls from fans to reunite.
This lead me to ask: Which group would you most like to see reform? Most of the answers were predictable, as was the share of voting, but there were a few surprises. First, the results in full.

Brit Music Scene Review Of The Year 2008 – Part Two: April To June

2009 is approaching fast and so it’s time to look back at 2008. Here we’ll see the high and lowlights of Spring, with a selection of stories we covered between April and June.
April
The month started, as it always does, with April Fool’s Day, and while Brit Music Scene didn’t hoodwink its readers, YouTube did. I detailed the prank in a post entitled The Day Rick Astley Ruled The World.
I shared my Soundtrack For A Day in the middle of the month, and was joined by other b5 Music bloggers. Meanwhile, Boyzone announced their reunion shows, an event I was ecstatic …read more

Brit Music Scene Review Of The Year 2008 – Part One: January To March

2009 is approaching fast and so it’s time to look back at 2008. Here we’ll see the high and lowlights of the first three months of the year, with a selection of stories we covered between January and March.
January
The month began with Queen being named as the best British band of all time, beating The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Take That, and Oasis. Sad news in the middle of the month when Lily Allen suffered a miscarriage. She later split with boyfriend Ed Simons.
Geri Halliwell claimed that the Spice Girls wouldn’t make a penny from their huge world tour despite …read more
