Carl Barat: No Libertines Reunion In 2010, maybe 2011
October 2, 2009 by Dave Parrack
Back in May, The Libertines reformed for a one-off gig at the London Rhythm Factory during a tribute gig dedicated to the late Johnny Sedassy. Since then, there has been much talk of a full reunion happening for the group, with all four members coming back together again to give it another go. But it looks as if we may have a bit of a wait to see this actually happen.
Pete Doherty went on record in August to claim that The Libertines would be back in 2010, with a UK tour and a new album forthcoming. But Carl Barat has …read more
Doherty: Libertines To Play Festivals – With Or Without Barat
August 19, 2009 by Dave Parrack
The Libertines were huge for a few years, spearheading the new Indie music movement and gaining millions of fans from their silky songwriting skills and lively live outings. And then it all came to a bitter end in 2004 when Pete Doherty was thrown out of the band and Carl Barat and the others decided to call it a day.
Ever since then there have been numerous calls for The Libertines to reform, both from within and outside of the band. And it finally looks like it’s about to happen, with Pete Doherty talking to NME about his hopes for a …read more
Doherty: The Libertines Are Back – New Album, Tour In 2010
August 1, 2009 by Dave Parrack
There have been rumors of The Libertines reforming for a few years now, basically since they split in 2004 following the sacking of Pete Doherty. The band came to a rather abrupt if not wholly unexpected end at that time, with all four original members heading off in different directions afterwards. All have stayed in music, with varying degrees of success, but there was something special about The Libertines that none have been able to recapture.
That is until May of this year when three of the four band members reunited for one glorious night in London at a tribute gig …read more
John Lydon Brands Pete Doherty A Coward, Amy Winehouse As Aimless Winehouse
August 1, 2008 by Dave Parrack
I love and hate John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten in equal measures. Yes, he’s over the hill and should have stopped ranting on stage as lead singer of the Sex Pistols a long time ago. And yes, he only says things to cause controversy and buy himself and his band some cheap publicity. But he gives me some great stuff to write about.
His latest little rant comes in an interview with the Daily Record newspaper ahead of his headline act at the Live At Loch Lomond festival this weekend. Acts playing at the festival include Groove Armada, Stereo MCs, Roisin …read more
The Libertines May Not Be Dead – Carl Barat Offers Hope Of Reunion With Doherty
May 30, 2008 by Dave Parrack
It was only five years ago that The Libertines were on top of the world, as Pete Doherty and Carl Barat’s band gained a legion of fans, and had critics firmly behind them. At that stage they seemed to be the future of British music, the noughties version of Oasis, The Beatles and The Smiths.
However, it all went slightly wrong, as Doherty fell in to a downward spiral of drug addiction, and the band argued their way to breaking up. All of the members have gone on to new projects, even Doherty who is still a druggie to this …read more
Amy Winehouse Alicia Keys Cover Video Uploaded To YouTube – By Pete Doherty
May 19, 2008 by Dave Parrack
We already knew that Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty were new best friends, and have been spending bags of time with each other, although it was reported that attempts for the pair to record a duet had gone slightly wrong of late. However, two videos were uploaded to YouTube by Doherty over the weekend which show the pair are seemingly inseparable.
The first one which appeared on the site was entitled Winemouse, and shows the pair playing with and talking to some of the baby mice which Doherty’s pet mouse gave birth to recently.
In the video, Doherty compares one of …read more
Amy Winehouse Tells Pete Doherty All His Songs Are “Shit” – Duet May Not Happen
May 16, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Pete Doherty was released early from his prison sentence involving drugs on May 6th, and immediately revealed plans to record a duet with fellow druggie and supposed new best friend Amy Winehouse.
However, the plans haven’t exactly gone to plan.
While they’re still on to duet together at Doherty’s rescheduled Royal Albert Hall gig, plans for a new song from the pair have reportedly hit a problem, namely that Winehouse isn’t happy with any of the material Doherty has come up with for the pair to sing.
The pair are said to have been inseparable since his release from prison with Winehouse …read more
Pete Doherty Released From Prison Early – Planning London Duet With Amy Winehouse
May 6, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Last month saw Pete Doherty sent to prison for 14 weeks for breaching a probation order revolving around his drug habit.
However, this morning just 29 days (or 4 weeks) in to his sentence, he was released from Wormwood Scrubs jail in London for good behaviour.
He then wasted no time in trying to get his faltering career back on track, by agreeing to now play the Glastonbury Festival set which it was thought he’d miss while in jail, and promising to reschedule the Royal Albert Hall gig he cancelled from April 26th.
What’s more, The Daily Mirror are reporting that keen …read more
Pete Doherty Jailed For 14 Weeks
April 8, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Pete Doherty is currently spending his first night in prison after being sent down for 14 weeks after breaching a probation order intended to help wean him off drugs.
The British singer, formerly with The Libertines, and now with Babyshambles as well as performing solo, will spend the next three and a half months in Woomword Scrubs Prison in London.
This isn’t the first time Doherty has been inside, as he was convicted of burglary back in 2003 after he broke in to band mate Carl Barat’s flat and stole precious items to feed his crack habit.
Back in October, Doherty was given …read more
Pete Doherty To Headline Glastonbury?
February 28, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Well at least The Park Stage. We already know that Jay-Z, Kings of Leon and The Verve will headline the main Pyramid Stage, but now it looks as like Britain’s resident junkie (male version of Amy Winehouse) will be the big draw on The Park Stage.
According to NME, Doherty will play a solo show on the stage, rather than playing a set with his band Babyshambles.
As much as I dislike the guy, and would pay NOT to see him live, he certainly has the capacity to bring the crowds in, after selling out his recently announced show at the Royal …read more
