I love The X Factor, the television show which evolved from the ashes of Pop Idol. It’s brilliant entertainment watching singers, some talented, some not-so-talented, competing for the support of the nation. It’s perfect Saturday night viewing.
However, don’t kid yourself that the artists to emerge from the show are all going to set the world alight. After five series worth of singers, how many have truly gone onto achieve glory and fame?

I’m not normally that interested in the singles charts, as they mean less now than ever, being dominated, as they are, by whichever pop artist has the most record label money behind them. But this week sees an interesting little battle between a certain reality television star and a fake one.

Leona Lewis is still sitting at number one in the album charts, making it a clean sweep for the ITV music reality television show.
