Did that headline grab your attention? That was the intention. Unfortunately, rather than having an exclusive scoop on U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama having an affair with Joss Stone, it was just figuratively speaking.

The actual news is almost as bizarre though, as it seems Democratic candidate Obama has chosen Stone to record his election theme tune. I assume he does realise she’s British.

According to The Sun, Obama is a big fan of Joss Stone, now much more popular in the States than here in the UK. He asked her personally to write and record the theme tune for his election campaign. He’s battling with Republican candidate John McCain to take over the White House from George W. Bush.

Joss Stone seems intent on making her move from English sweetheart to American diva a permanent one.

The latest step on this oft travelled path is to team up with an American act and collaborate with them in an effort to seem cooler than you are, and that’s exactly what Stone is now doing.

She has teamed up with Clipse, who NME describe as “crack obsessed”, to record a story for each of their respective albums.

Clipse, brothers Malice and Pusha-T have recorded a song for Stone’s new album, while Stone has recorded vocals for a track on Clipse’s forthcoming album, titled Spirit Of Corruption.

Arjun over at The Good Musician is hosting a list day today, and has asked all of the b5 Music Channel bloggers to come up with 10 artists they wouldn’t want to switch places with.

Obviously my choices here on Brit Music Scene are going to all be British artists, and instead of going for the usual reasons, as in they’re dead, or just a plain laughing stock, I thought I’d try to come up with reasons slightly away from the norm.

She was once a softly spoken English sweetheart, who captured everyone’s imagination with her beautiful voice, and unnervingly good looks. Now she is a diva of Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey type proportions, and has the worst British American hybrid accent since Madonna. The British public are rapidly going off her, and I wouldn’t want to be her right now.

Robbie Williams

Okay, if I were Robbie, I’d be living in LA, have lots of money in the bank, and be able to get any woman I want. I’d also be able to claim to having slept with the likes of Kylie Minogue, which isn’t bad. But, I’d also be watching my career fall apart around me, as well as seeing my old sparring partners Take That seeing their career reach new heights. No, right now, I’d rather be Gary Barlow!

Oh dear, the English rose turned wannabee American diva Joss Stone has done it again, and bitched at her British fans.

This time, she’s fighting back over the claims that she’s changed her accent to try and be more American, and claimed it’s normal after spending time in another country.

Stone was originally mocked for the half British half American accent she displayed at last year’s Brit awards, with fans laughing at her on stage.

Hmm, Joss Stone, Joss Stone, nope I can’t quite place her. Somewhere in the dark recesses of my memory, I seem to remember this young girl with the voice of an angel who released a great album, but then nothing.

Ah, here she is, Joss Stone has now turned up again, seemingly out of the blue to berate British fans who she feels have rejected her. Joss, who now lives in America, speaks with an American accent, and is more redneck than chav, is having a go at US Brits for rejecting her… oh mama, she knows how to piss people off.

Stone was talking about her appearance at the Brit awards when she spoke in a faux American accent, to DJ Trevor Nelson on his BBC 1Xtra radio show when she admitted:

“I felt kind of sad about it actually. It’s funny because the only country that hasn’t liked it is my own. It’s just like, well, thanks guys! It’s like coming home and having them be like, ‘Go away, we don’t like you!’”

“It’s the whole country and it’s like they’re mad at me for being in the US. Maybe it’s because I dye my hair, maybe because my accent is messed up. But I’ve got to let it go and get on with my music.”

You stupid cow, it’s not because of you dying your hair, or anything meaningless like that. Do you want me to explain to you, in words you may understand.

Joss Stone appeared and performed at the Live Earth concert in Johannesburg, South Africa. The problem is, according to Popbitch, she may have missed the point of the whole day, that being to raise awareness of Global climate change.

Joss Stone performed at Live Earth Johannesburg. While she stopped to do some interviews for about 20 minutes, someone in her entourage instructed her driver (a Mercedes bio diesel limo) to keep the engine running so the car interior stayed warm for the star.

Ermmm Joss, you see it’s like this. I know you think you are now a Diva of Mariah Carey proportions, but can you see the problem with what you did there? Really, you’re just a posh girl from Devon with a good voice, that doesn’t mean you can destroy the planet now does it.

I wonder how she got to South Africa in the first place anyway… did she walk, or bus it? No, I suspect the truth is she got on a terribly polluting airplane and flew in exquisite comfort to the concert. It sort of puts a damper on the whole thing does it not?
