Take That/Robbie – No – Snow Patrol/Cheryl Cole – Yes

A charity concert for Children In Need will take place tomorrow (Thursday) night at the Royal Albert Hall. Muse, Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey, Dizzee Rascal, and many others will be performing, and many of the artists will be teaming up for duets. However, Take That will not be joined on stage by Robbie Williams. Apparently.

We know that Robbie Williams is going to be rejoining Take That at some point in the future, whether temporarily or permanently. It’s really just a matter of when. But it doesn’t look like it’ll be happening this week as rumored.

UK Music Charts – Nov 8 – JLS and Cheryl Cole

The UK music charts may mean less now than they used to but they’re still an indicator of what’s hot on the popular British music scene right now. This week’s Top 10 singles and Top 10 albums are listed below.

This week’s singles chart saw JLS knock Cheryl Cole off the top spot with Everybody In Love. This is the second number one for The X Factor runners-up from last year. The Black Eyed Peas climbed from six to three and Ke$ha debuted at number six with Tik Tok.
Cheryl Cole did, however, hold onto the number one album chart position. She …read more

UK Music Charts – Oct 25 – Cheryl Cole & Alexandra Burke

The UK music charts may mean less now than they used to but they’re still an indicator of what’s hot on the popular British music scene right now. This week’s Top 10 singles and Top 10 albums are listed below.

This week’s singles chart saw Cheryl Cole depart Girls Aloud temporarily to score her first solo number one with Fight For This Love. It was the fastest selling single of the week, racking up sales of 290,000 copies. Alexandra Burke slipped to number two with Bad Boys. With the exception of a new entry by Young Soul Rebels and Whitney Houston …read more

Girls Aloud Vs. Sugababes – Spoof YouTube Cartoon Argument Prompts Twitter Rant

Girls Aloud Vs. Sugababes – Spoof YouTube Cartoon Argument Prompts Twitter Rant

Girls Aloud and Sugababes are, without a doubt, the two biggest girl groups in the UK right now. They have crosses genre divides and grabbed fans from all walks of life and are both talented and able pop groups.
While I may like both groups, many fans have chosen to stay loyal to just one of the two, and a rather unhealthy rivalry has cropped up between Girls Aloud fans and Sugababes fans. This is despite the two groups getting along fine, at least on the face of it.
Some would argue that there is enough in-fighting in both camps that an …read more

Brit Awards 2009 Live – Part 4 – Ting Tings, Estelle, Girls Aloud, Duffy, Pet Shop Boys

Brit Awards 2009 Live – Part 4 – Ting Tings, Estelle, Girls Aloud, Duffy, Pet Shop Boys

21:30 – The Ting Tings and Estelle take to the stage together for one of the most bizarre collaborations I’ve ever witnessed. It kind of works as they boh get to perform their biggest hits but it’s not a patch on last year’s Rihanna/Klaxons mash-up.
21:33 – Alan Carr on stage to present the award for ‘British Single’. What the hell is he wearing? I’m not exactly the most fashionable guy but some of these outfits are terrible. I’ll stick to Primark I think. And the winner is… not Diana Vickers… Girls Aloud. Much deserved, and it means Scouting for Girls …read more

Brit Awards 2009 Live – Part 1 – U2, Duffy, Katy Perry, Girls Aloud, Duffy Again

20:02 – Johnny Vegas’ dulcet tones introduce the ceremony and U2 enter stage right to open the show.
20:05 – Kylie Minogue, James Corden, and Matthew Horne, our three presenters for the night, join the fray. The two male comedians are dressed as lady dancers as they all perform one of Kylie’s biggest hits.
20: 09 – Duffy wins ‘British Female Solo Artist’ – the genius that is Simon Pegg announces her as the winner. She accepts the award, with an accent that is a cross between Welsh, English, and American.

Girls Aloud To Split in 2009? The Bookies Think So

Girls Aloud To Split in 2009? The Bookies Think So

2008 has been dominated by groups reforming and getting back together. But not many have split. 2009 could see the two trends switch places though, with more British bands splitting than reforming. But which are likely to break up?
The bookies are rarely wrong, mainly because it’s their job to be right, with an incorrect verdict when setting odds costing them money. Paddy Power, an Irish bookmaker who specializes in bizarre or out of the ordinary bets, has published its odds on which bands are likely to part ways next year.
The two biggest girl bands in the country, Girls Aloud and …read more

Girls Aloud – ‘The Promise’ Music Video Review

Girls Aloud – ‘The Promise’ Music Video Review

I think my conversion to pop music lover is now complete, as for the first time ever, I am willing to admit to loving a Girls Aloud song. I still love my indie, rock, and metal, real music where a band play instruments and everything, but Will Young, Sugababes, and Take That are turning me on to pop in a big way. Maybe I’m just getting old.

I’ve never been anti-pop as such but when I younger I was in to dance music, then heavily in to hip-hop, before finding the true and righteous of guitar music. But pop seems to …read more

Cheryl Cole Joins The X Factor In Place Of Sharon Osbourne – What About Girls Aloud?

British pop sensations Girls Aloud formed on a long defunct television show called Popstars: The Rivals way back in 2002. Since then, the show has evolved to become The X Factor, and Girls Aloud have gone on to be massively successful. Now the two are about to merge once again.
Last week saw Sharon Osbourne, wife of the British born and bred rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, quit the show after her request for a massive pay increase. She straight away backed Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole for the job, and that has now been officially announced.
It’s good timing, as filming for …read more
