George Michael Promises Wham! Will Never Reform – Good

Wham! were very much of their time, being made by and for the 1980s. George Michael has since gone on to have a great solo career, and Andrew Ridgeley, well, hasn’t. But I don’t think it’s a great surprise to hear that Wham! aren’t ever going to reform.

In fact, I haven’t ever thought of Wham! reforming since they split in 1986. Take That, fine, Blur, fine, Led Zeppelin, I wish. But Wham!, no, leave that in the past where it belongs.

George Michael – ‘December Song’ Music Video Review

You either love or hate Christmas songs. Personally, I can’t get enough of them, and spend the two weeks up to Christmas listening almost exclusively to cheesy, feel-good, seasonal tracks, both modern and from yesteryear. So George Michael has to go some to impress me with his Christmas record.

George Michael is already part of the holiday thanks to Wham’s Last Christmas. That is an 80s classic, and is one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time. So, has George Michael pulled it off (and I’m not talking about public toilets here) with December Song (I Dreamed Of Christmas)?

George Michael: Sex and Drugs Is “Just Who I Am”

It’s a sad state of affairs when a celebrity become more known for their privates life than for their work in whatever field it was that made them famous in the first place. With people such as Paris Hilton and Katie Price, who are famous for doing nothing, it’s inevitable, but not for everyone else.
George Michael is one such person, but you know what? He really doesn’t care any more.

George Michael’s private life became very public after he was arrested for engaging in a lewd act in a public toilet in California. He was then forced to admit he was …read more

The X Factor 2009 – Week 6 – Jedward Go… Finally!

The X Factor 2009 has finally reached the business end, with the final 12 singing live every week until one is declared the winner. Week 6 saw Susan Boyle prove once and for all she’s can’t sing and Mariah Carey prove she can’t lip-sync. But everything else was overshadowed by Jedward finally getting booted out. And the judges finally made a decision between them as well.

This week it was George Michael and Wham songs being given the cover treatments. And most of the contestants did a good job of attempting to stay in the contest.

George Michael Arrested After Crash – Drink & Drugs Denied

Has George Michael got a thing for police officers or something? Maybe he likes being put behind bars, fed prison grub, and only allowed to make one phone call. Well, I guess it takes all sorts. Whatever the reason, he certainly seems to be making a habit of getting arrested, the latest occurring after the pop star was involved in a car crash.

George Michael was driving his land rover when it collided with an articulated lorry on the A34 in Berkshire on Friday (August 14) morning. BBC News reports how Michael was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving …read more

Gary Barlow Is ‘Britain’s Greatest Songwriter’ | Take That Star Beats John Lennon To Title

The UK has produced an inordinate number of talented songwriters over the past 50 years, especially when you consider the small size of the population. But who are the best of the best? Who are the people whose songs have shaped and defined Britain through music?
Artists come and go all the time, one bad album and that can be it. But the ones that endure, either staying together for years (Oasis, Rolling Stones) or whose music lives on for generations (The Beatles) are the ones who are capable of pumping out magical song after magical song.
Songwriting is a special talent …read more

Brit Music Scene Review Of The Year 2008 – Part Three: July to September

2009 has arrived so I’m actually overdue in rounding up my best of Brit Music Scene from 2008. Here we find out what the biggest stories and talking points between the months of July and September.
July
Most bands now love having their songs featured in video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but Led Zeppelin made a stand against the grain by refusing permission for their songs to be used. Meanwhile, Mani claimed that Ian Brown was the main thing stopping a Stone Roses reunion from happening.
There were claims that John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols …read more

George Michael’s Penchant For Drugs & Toilets | Is This The End Of His Career?

George Michael’s latest arrest in a public toilet on suspicion of drug possession is just the latest in a long line of embarrassing and quite openly illegal acts committed by the British singer. But he always seems to comes back from them. Could this finally be the incident that kills his career?

I’ve never really been a fan of George Michael. I can see the appeal, and some of his big hits are definitely up there with the best of British. But from his days in Wham through to his burgeoning solo career, he’s never really been my favourite artist in …read more

George Michael Retires From Touring | ‘The Final Two’ In London Before Quieter Life

George Michael, a man who has been present in the British music scene for 25 years now, has announced his retirement from touring after playing The Final Two shows of his career at London’s Earl’s Court in August.

The name The Final Two is a nod to the last Wham show before they parted company in 1986, which saw him and Andrew Ridgeley play The Final at Wembley Stadium. These two shows will not only bring his 25 Live tour to a close, but also his live career.
The tour, which began in Europe in 2006, still has some dates left in …read more
