Futureheads Ready New Album – But It’s “Complicated”
September 27, 2009 by Dave Parrack
I’ve been a fan of the Futureheads for a long time now, and have seen them through the highs and lows they have, as a band, experienced so far. Their first, self-titled album was a big success, and they had a top 10 hit with their cover of Kate Bush’s Hounds Of Love.
Their second album, News and Tributes, didn’t do so well and they were consequently dropped by their record label. So they set up their own record label and released their third album, This Is Not The World, through it in 2008.
They’ve been away for a while but …read more
The Futureheads Live In Manchester Gig Review | Academy 2 – May 26th 2008
May 27, 2008 by Dave Parrack
The Futureheads are one of my favourite British bands ever, and one which deserves a lot more credit than they currently get. So when they announced a new UK tour back in March, I nabbed some tickets before they all sold out.
It’s been a long two month wait for the gig to finally come around, but yesterday finally gave me the chance to see the band play live for the first time since they last played Manchester back in 2006. And they have lost none of the magic from those days, and in fact seemed even more energetic than last …read more
Soundtrack For A Day – April 13th 2008 – Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, Kooks & More
April 14, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Some of the bloggers here on the b5 music channel decided to record our Soundtrack For A Day yesterday. This could take different forms, be it all the songs you listened to on that day, a selection from certain moments, or a particular album.
I decided to stick my media player on random and note down the first 50 songs it played, and here is the result.
As a full time blogger who works from home, music is very important to me as it can change the mood of my day. Pressing the random button is therefore a bit of a gamble …read more
My Favourite Live UK Gigs Of Recent Years
March 24, 2008 by Dave Parrack
A few of us here on the b5 music channel have decided to get together and talk about our favourite gigs. I’ve been to far too many to list them all, so instead, I’ll focus on my experiences of the last year.
I have quite a broad taste in music, loving everything from Bjork and Joanna Newsome, through the Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party, up to Megadeth and The Hives, so my gig history is kind of fragmented.
My first gig was the Stereophonics back in the day (when they were good, or at least better than they are at the moment), …read more
The Futureheads Tour Tickets On Sale Now
March 21, 2008 by Dave Parrack
The Futureheads are one of my favourite British bands of recent years, but one who haven’t really got the recognition they deserve.
Apart from having a top ten hit with a cover of the Kate Bush classic Hounds Of Love in 2005, the Sunderland band have had to make do with being on the fringes of the mainstream.
Their sound and style is definitely alternative, and quite niche, but a pop sensibility runs through everything they do.
Hopefully, with the success of new single The Beginning Of The Twist, and a new album called This Is Not The World, due out …read more
