UK Music Charts – Oct 18 – Alexandra Burke & Editors

The UK music charts may mean less now than they used to but they’re still an indicator of what’s hot on the popular British music scene right now. This week’s Top 10 singles and Top 10 albums are listed below.

This week’s singles chart saw a race to the number one spot between Robbie Williams, with Bodies, and Alexandra Burke, with Bad Boys feat. Flo Rida. Burke won by a nose, with Robbie coming in at two. Last week’s number one single, Oopsy Daisy by Chipmunk, dropped to number three. The only other new entry was Michael Buble with Haven’t Met …read more

Editors’ Tom Smith Talks Radiohead and Illegal Filesharing

The issue of illegal filesharing of music has been much debated in recent weeks, thanks to a new effort by the British government to curb the activity. Lily Allen started a blog about the problem, but then got cold feet and walked away. While other artists are pushing for fairness and compromise in how the issue is dealt with.

Radiohead are a part of the Featured Artists Coalition which, although not fans of filesharing, are seeking for a better, longterm solution than the ones being proposed right now. And it was two years ago that Radiohead experimented with a different way …read more

Editors Talk New Album – Defend Their Dark Lyrics & Sound

In fact, they are rapidly becoming known for their dark, haunting, and sometimes quite depressing songs. But is that necessarily a bad thing? Especially when that’s what natural to the band, and doesn’t every great band write about what they know and about how they feel?

The Back Room and An End Has A Start are both magnificent albums that deserve to be listened to and truly understood. But many people just can’t get past the moody, morose …read more

Maximo Park & The Editors Live Videos | Bands Play On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

I have two live videos of British bands for you today which I think you might enjoy. Maximo Park and The Editors are 2 of my favourite bands at the moment, and have both released amazing second albums in 2007.
While on their promotional tours over in America to support the new albums, they appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and both performed brilliantly.
First off The Editors performing ‘An End Has A Start’ and the start of ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors‘. I can’t believe the programme cut off only 30 seconds in to the 2nd track but we at least …read more
