Brit Music Scene Review Of The Year 2008 - Part Two: April To June
December 29, 2008 by Dave Parrack
2009 is approaching fast and so it’s time to look back at 2008. Here we’ll see the high and lowlights of Spring, with a selection of stories we covered between April and June.
April
The month started, as it always does, with April Fool’s Day, and while Brit Music Scene didn’t hoodwink its readers, YouTube did. I detailed the prank in a post entitled The Day Rick Astley Ruled The World.
I shared my Soundtrack For A Day in the middle of the month, and was joined by other b5 Music bloggers. Meanwhile, Boyzone announced their reunion shows, an event I was ecstatic about… yeah right.
The end of the month saw Amy Winehouse accused of assaulting people on a night out in London, and this was just the first time she got up to mischief while drunk during 2008. Phil Collins also announced his retirement even though most people assumed he had already retired years ago.
Girls Aloud To Split in 2009? The Bookies Think So
December 23, 2008 by Dave Parrack

2008 has been dominated by groups reforming and getting back together. But not many have split. 2009 could see the two trends switch places though, with more British bands splitting than reforming. But which are likely to break up?
The bookies are rarely wrong, mainly because it’s their job to be right, with an incorrect verdict when setting odds costing them money. Paddy Power, an Irish bookmaker who specializes in bizarre or out of the ordinary bets, has published its odds on which bands are likely to part ways next year.
The two biggest girl bands in the country, Girls Aloud and Sugababes are top of the pile, while there’s an influx of boy bands, two of which have only recently reformed, not far behind them. Two rock giants complete the list.
Boyzone Announce Reunion Shows - No One Cares - Just Give Up Now… I Beg You!
April 18, 2008 by Dave Parrack
Back in November of last year, Boyzone announced they were getting back together, and I wrote a post titled ‘Boyzone Announce Reunion - Noooooooooooooooooo!’ to show the level of my displeasure at the thought.
At the time, the reunion was just a one-off for Children In Need, but unfortunately, the 30-somethings from Ireland who still insist on calling themselves “boys” have now announced a summer tour around the UK. Great, I’m ecstatic at the thought.
According to NME, the frightening fivesome of Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham, Stephen Gately and Keith Duffy will be playing:
Broadlands House (July 5)
Bath The Rec (6)
Castle Howard (12)
Edinburgh Castle (18)
Blickling Hall (20)
Powderham Castle (25)
Faenol Festival (August 22)
I must attend all of those, as the chance to see Boyzone strutting their stuff 8 years after they split up makes me pee my pants. Yeah, seriously, it does. Honest.
Boyzone Announce Reunion - Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
November 5, 2007 by Dave Parrack
Oh shit, Boyzone are getting back together. Now come on lads, we’ve had enough reunions now, this is one too many, and one which nobody wants.
Keating will join former band mates Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham, Stephen Gately and Keith Duffy to perform a medley of hits on Children In Need later this month.

He told The Sun newspaper:
“After all the speculation, we are getting back together and we are very excited. We have been talking about it for a while now and decided to go out there on our own and have a go at it.”
Damn, I was hoping and praying this day would never come. I mean Led Zeppelin great, Sex Pistols great, The Verve, Shed Seven, and even The Spice Girls fine, but boyzone… BOYZONE??? It’s the new All Saints!
