New Kate Nash Album Announced – Plus Free Download

I was a huge fan of Kate Nash’s first album, Made Of Bricks, and have been eagerly awaiting her second album ever since. Thankfully, the wait is almost over. Nash has revealed the tracklisting and release date of the as-yet-untitled LP and even thrown in a free download.

Although the album hasn’t yet got a name, it will be released on April 19, almost a full two years after the release of her debut. I guess that’s what having a celebrity boyfriend (Ryan Jarman from The Cribs) does to you and your sense of timing.
The tracklisting, according to NME, is:

Free Rage Against The Machine Gig Announced In London

After reaching Christmas Number One, Rage Against The Machine promised to hold a free gig in the U.K. to celebrate the fact and to thank all the fans who bought Killing In The Name. And they’re now delivering on that promise, with the free gig to be held in London in June.

As you’re no doubt aware, Rage Against The Machine nabbed the Christmas Number One from The X Factor winner Joe McElderry. This followed a grassroots campaign started on Facebook intended to make sure a reputable song made the holiday top spot rather than another one of Simon Cowell’s manufactured …read more

Radiohead Stage L.A. Gig For Haiti Earthquake Victims

As you’re no doubt aware, Haiti has been left devastated by a massive earthquake near its capital Port-au-Prince a couple of weeks ago. The situation is grim, with thousands of casualties and hundreds of thousands of people left injured or affected.

Luckily, millions of dollars in aid has been raised and continues to be raised, with governments, celebrities, businessmen, and ordinary people contributing to the fund.

Franz Ferdinand Slam Label Over McDonald’s Licensing

Franz Ferdinand Slam Label Over McDonald’s Licensing

Record labels may think they own the artists they have on their books, but they don’t. And they also can’t license the artists’ music out to companies and campaigns without approval from the artist themselves. Franz Ferdinand have had to remind Epic of this.

According to NME, Franz Ferdinand’s U.S. label Epic, part of Sony Music, allowed one of the band’s tracks to appear on a Web site for fast food chain McDonald’s. Lead singer Alex Kapranos wasn’t too happy when he found out and called Epic and Sony all the names he could think of.

New Kate Nash Album Finshed And Out In Months

New Kate Nash Album Finshed And Out In Months

Kate Nash is beautiful, talented, and a breath of fresh air in the British music scene. And she’s months away from releasing her second album, the follow-up to 2007’s Made Of Bricks. Can the as-yet-untitled album possibly live up to the promise of her debut?

I stand to either be very disappointed by Nash’s new album or ecstatically happy with it. If it’s as good or better than Made Of Bricks then it’ll be the latter, but if it sucks, with no stand out tracks and a loss of the kookiness present on the first album, it’ll be the former.

Ting Tings Name New Album ‘Kunst’ After Massage Parlor

Ting Tings Name New Album ‘Kunst’ After Massage Parlor

I fell in love with The Ting Tings as soon as their debut album, We Started Nothing, was released in 2008. So I’m ecstatic to hear they’re currently beavering away on their second record, due out later this year. However, I’m not so sure about the name.

We Started Nothing is a gem of an album. It was a breath of fresh air and contained more original ideas than a whole season of The X Factor. Which isn’t too hard, granted.
The Ting Tings, made up of Katie White and Jules De Martino, revealed in July that they were heading for Berlin …read more

Morrissey Splits With Management, Along With Label

Morrissey Splits With Management, Along With Label

Morrissey seems to be having something of a midlife crisis at the moment. Last year saw him leave his record label, experience health problems, and walk offstage mid-gig. And has begun in a similar fashion, with him announcing he has split with his management.

Morrissey left Universal in 2009, and still hasn’t signed for another record label. And now, he also has no management team looking after him and his affairs.
The former Smiths front man announced the split in a statement on True-To-You, a Morrissey fanzine. It read:
“Following consultation with my lawyers, I wish it to be known that I have …read more

Some album covers are instantly forgettable, and only there to liven up an otherwise boring piece of plastic. New Radiohead Album Getting Closer To Release

New Radiohead Album Getting Closer To Release

Radiohead are one of the finest bands ever to have come out of the U.K. However, like all masters of their chosen art, they do like taking their sweet time over crafting their latest work, which will undoubtedly turn out to be a masterpiece.

It’s been a strange few months in terms of what has emerged from the Radiohead camp. For a time it looked as though the group wouldn’t be making any more albums, but that rumor was finally put to bed by Ed O’Brien’s reassurances in October.

Rage Against The Machine Vs. Joe McElderry Battle – Midweek Chart, Bookies Favorites, Perform On Radio 5Live

Wow, this chart battle for Christmas number one is simmering nicely. Who would have thought that Rage Against The Machine could ever be in with a shout of the topping the U.K. music charts over the holiday – but that is exactly the situation playing out at the moment.

The story so far: Sick of The X Factor dominating the Christmas charts, a Facebook group was started to get Killing In The Name by Rage Against The Machine to number one instead of Joe McElderry’s The Climb. Simon Cowell isn’t too happy at the whole thing but do we care what …read more
